James McTeigue’s Ninja Assassin
South Korean star Rain stars in this highly anticipated hack n slash, train and betray, all against one, Kill Bill type slasher which deals with everyone’s favorite assassins… the Ninja. With what seems to be a 300 type of setting where the children are brutally thinned out to obtain the best of the best, along with what appears to be amazing stunts and choreography, we anticipate this one to be a wild ride. I’m not sure when the release date is (the poster says November 24th) but regardless when, I will be there front and center with hopes of good things.
From Eric Ditzian of MTV.com:
“Director James McTeigue (“V for Vendetta”) explained that for “Assassin” he wanted to get away from the suspension-wire-based fighting that has come to define so many contemporary martial arts films. Instead, in an attempt to ground the action in a realistic context, he invited experts from China and Japan, incorporating elements of parkour, kung fu, two-sword fighting and blade-and-chain combat.”
