White Noise

whitenoise White NoiseWhite Noise stars Michael Keaton in a role as a widowed young husband who is haunted by the sudden loss of his beautiful wife. The outline of this film is revealed when he tries various mediums to contact his fallen bride and discovers EVP, an electronic method of contacting the dead.

This movie started out beautifully, with Keaton’s acting and a great build-up, you can feel his love for his wife. The writers however neglect the audience by keeping suspense, surprise and anything else vaguely interesting, out of the movie until the very end. This made the film seem like 3 hours of static, white noise, boredom. The other characters that come into play are total strangers and nothing is done to explain their lives, history or even their direction. It seemed like the only character I knew and understood in the entire film was Michael Keaton. I was so confused at the end of the movie, the supposed climactic twist made me throw up my hands and laugh, could this have been written any worse? Probably not.

To sum it all up I can say this… the trailers to this film are ten times more scary, interesting and better written than the film itself. The movie would have been better had they stuck to the mystery and atmosphere of the first hour into it but with the change in plot and unknown antagonists, it ended up being just awful.

Avoid White Noise if you get the choice, it is a testament to the sad state of affairs that horror/thrillers have fallen to post “Sixth Sense”.icon13 White Noise
