V Recap 2.5 – Concordia

On this episode of V, Anna (Morena Baccarin) shows Chad Decker (Scott Wolf) her plans for an urban renewal centers for each continent known as Concordia. It is becoming a little bit annoying seeing Anna come up with a different plan, different gifts and a different plot after every three episodes or so! V needs to straighten up its writing and get on track with one course that us fans can follow because at this point, it’s seeming as if Anna is pulling half of this stuff out of her ass.

Ryan (Morris Chestnut) playing double agent for Anna and Erica (Elizabeth Mitchell) meets up with Eli the head of the ruthless Fifth Column movement in order to plan some sort of an alliance. Their plan is to take out Anna once and for all. Sounding familiar? Well it should, being that we’ve been to this point several times before. Anna has Ryan’s daughter, which accounts for his sudden departure from loyalty with the Fifth Column but us fans know better that he is very much against her and is doing his best to fool her that he is a wild card in order to keep his daughter alive.

Erica finally comes clean with everything to husband Joe in order to get him acclimated with the state that Tyler is in with being in bed literally with the enemy. The two get back together temporarily for Tyler (Logan Huffman) as it’s his 18th birthday and his want for family is stronger than it has been in quite some time. Back to business as usual, Ryan reports back to the rest of the team that he had spoken to the Fifth Column terrorist leader and the feedback he receives is the same as it always is with Father Jack being the ridiculous paragon in the decision-making while Hobbes (Charles Meshure) the dark Renegade. None of them agree that blowing up Anna was worth losing 300 lives outside of Ryan and Hobbes.

Jack is the worst and seems more in the way than an asset to the team. Anyway Anna trumps Tyler’s gift from his parents of a motorcycle and trip around the state by making him a pilot on her Concordia project. This makes Erica reconsider Ryan’s plans and she meets with Eli and Hobbes to create an alternate plan to snipe Anna versus using a bomb. Everything goes smoothly until Ryan has a change of heart worrying for his daughter’s safety and tips off Annaa of her assassination, leading to her second in command Marcus getting shot in the chest!

The shot occurs as soon as he brings both Erica and her son Tyler (the first human pilot for the Visitors) up on stage to show to the crowd. It is a disaster. Anna is livid and the acting of Morena Bacarin is superb in the moment that she gives Erica a look that could turn anyone to stone as Erica hugs her son with Marcus’s blood splattered all over her face. Erica’s biggest mistake was in not acting like an agent would if a person of importance was shot. She paid no attention to the mortally wounded Visitor and then immediately went to hold her son in quiet solitude. For Anna it was all the confirmation that she needed. There was also one other thing about that scene, it’s the fact that Anna is showing human emotion with her anger and remorse in seeing Marcus shot.

So things are picking up. The FBI now suspect Erica of working with father Jack Landry after seeing photographs of her and he when she claimed to have been with her family. Ryan is also revealed to have tipped off Anna and Hobbes is out for blood. It’s definitely getting better and next week should be an action packed episode for us all.
