Doom

Well Doom turned out to be exactly what I expected… part “Aliens”, part “Resident Evil” and all gore. For those who are going to see this movie I will warn you that the cheese factor is high BUT you will get alot of action. For players of the Doom series you can breathe easy, this one does not disappoint. The only regret I have is for the creators of this flick because they sacrificed box office numbers in an attempt to please us game loyalists and not the high nose elitist nerds who critique movies.

Doom takes place on Mars, via a new technology known simply as the “Ark”, people from earth can teleport back and forth to the red planet with ease. Some scientists have ended up missing however in a lab on Mars so the panic button is hit and some hardcore Marines led by The Rock are called in to take care of business. I must say that I was impressed by The Rock in this movie, he took on the role as Sergeant very well and sold his performance flawlessly. His happy cast of soldiers however didn’t do it for me excepting the hardened “Reaper” and “Destroyer” (names of fellow Marines). In my opinion the movie may have been a bit too short but the blood and guts were not held back. Some scenes were made to emulate the game from a first-person perspective and I will not lie and say I wasn’t smiling the entire time. VERY NICE TOUCH.

If you love the Doom games, screw the nerds and critics go see this movie! You will love it, maybe not the epic that “Aliens” was but definitely worthy of a go-see. Enjoy
