V Recap 1.11 – Fruition

a meeting of the moms V Recap 1.11 Fruition

I swear Anna (Morena Baccarin) gets scarier and scarier every episode and it is becoming quite clear that she is the type of leader that will sacrifice anyone in order to realize her goals. Lisa’s (Laura Vandervoot) wounds from her mother’s assault are a sad thing to witness as her pretty face now holds the letter V carved into her right cheek by a blade, her face battered and legs broken. Erica (Elizabeth Mitchell) tries to help her at the FBI headquarters but Lisa points out Hobbes (Charles Meshure) as one of her attackers which of course makes no sense. When Joshua (the Fifth Column contact aboard Anna’s Mother Ship) comes down to personally tell Erica that Anna scarred Lisa herself it seems to bring everything full circle for the FBI agent.

Anna is in full manipulation mode this episode, telling the people of earth that due to the attack on her daughter and the shuttle before, she will be leaving the planet. Chad Decker (Scott Wolf) is removed from his privileged position of being the Visitor’s go-to media man and as he chases Anna begging to get her attention, the cold lizard queen ignores her while coaching Lisa to keep up the façade. Tyler (Logan Huffman) finally comes clean to his mom about Lisa being a Visitor (involuntarily albeit) and the parents of both teens meet to express their willingness to find the attackers and exact punishment for poor Lisa. Erica, knowing that Anna is full of crap, is urged on by her fellow rebels to get Tyler involved since he has Lisa’s ear. The mystery for Erica to solve is the reasoning behind Anna’s framing of Hobbes and the mysterious second guy – Parker.

ryan is torn over valerie V Recap 1.11 Fruition

Chad Decker, desperate to stop Anna from leaving earth does not realize that he is a pawn for her to play the people against the Fifth Column. He broadcasts a message practically begging the people of earth to petition their leaders for Anna and is successful in rallying everyone against the Fifth Column. Jack is noticing a change in Ryan as he appears more quiet than normal and has the look of a broken man. Turns out Valerie’s dumping him is not sitting too well so Ryan is trying to shake off the feelings and stay professional, this isn’t working out well for him as his woman stays embedded in his mind.

Erica finally finds Parker and questions him about the Visitor’s targeting him and he lets her know that he had invented a virus which could be the reasoning behind their interest. In a painfully drawn out sequence of innuendos, stares and body language; Lisa, Anna and Erica face a line-up of men including Parker (freshly arrested by the FBI) in order for her to pick one out. Urged by Anna to get Parker, Lisa tries in vain to confide this to Erica but Anna is on Lisa like a hawk and she is unable to do so. Parker is picked out and is whisked away and Erica is left to eat crow and exchange pleasantries with the Visitor queen before she departs.

Parker’s lost hard drive of data was apparently stolen, but who would’ve guessed the thief to be none other than Hobbes himself. Hobbes meets the ever loyal and silent right hand lackey of Anna’s to sell him the data in exchange for his name being removed from their records. Now we’re back to guessing as to what Hobbes true loyalties are and as if things couldn’t get worse, Anna’s eggs are about to hatch.

Not the greatest episode, pretty slow and the mind games were a bit too basic to warrant excitement. Seeing Lisa beat up, cut and broken was a bit of a different experience and the best part of the episode was her reconciling with Tyler over her feelings. Anna is not trying very hard to hide her wicked smile any longer and I am sure in next week’s season finale, we will see her pull the claws out in full effect when they finally catch up with Ryan’s estranged fiancé Valerie.
