Chloe

Aside from seeing a little bit more of Julianne Moore’s body than I expected, Chloe did not offer many surprises outside of the standard for psycho stalker movies. Liam Neeson is excellent as he always is and Amanda Seyfried is a shapely beauty that stops your breath when on screen, playing the part of the prostitute Chloe.

So what is this all about? Well David Stewart (Liam Neeson) and Catherine (Julianne Moore) are a wealthy married couple with a teenage son by the name of Michael (Max Thieriot). While David is happy, outgoing and flirtatious, his wife is feeling the weight of age, which turns into a jealousy towards her husband as he flirts with every single woman he comes across. After David misses a flight home on his birthday, and a picture is found on his phone of he and a young girl together, Catherine becomes convinced that he is cheating and hires a prostitute to trap him.

The prostitute’s name is Chloe, a doe-eyed, blondie with a cute demeanor and Catherine finds her around the expensive restaurants near her clinic. The two meet in the bathroom and upon exchanging niceties, Chloe is sent after David with a mission to seduce him. At this point Catherine begins to show remorse for going through with the arrangement as this girl Chloe begins to move faster than she anticipated, kissing when she wasn’t supposed to kiss, touching when she wasn’t supposed to touch etc., etc. Before long Chloe recounts the affair to her of David committing the ultimate sin within a hotel and it becomes too much for Catherine to stand.

Humiliated and weak in her resolve Catherine allows Chloe to make love to her, and it was as if a dynamite was lit betwixt her loins. Something special had occurred between the two and the arrangement of trapping David turns into an obsession by Chloe to completely have Catherine. The family is thrown into disarray, as Chloe begins to seduce the son to get back at Catherine. Well it soon becomes quite evident that Chloe, and everything she had said was beyond what the eye could see or judge. Chloe was something special, in a dark, twisted, and perverse way.

The twists and the story are overshadowed by the nuclear hot love-making scene between Chloe and Catherine. Here I thought Bitch Slap had reached new highs in girl on girl action, but who would’ve thought that Julianne Moore and Amanda Seyfried would end up showing me how they really get down in Chinatown, whew! An enjoyable movie no doubt with enough creepiness to edge its way out of mediocrity, but unfortunately I had it all figured out by the time Chloe had her second “confession”. If you want a nice, thriller for you and your honey bunny to catch up to, then I strongly urge you to pick this up on Blu-Ray/DvD whenever it comes out.

Julianne Moore carried this movie convincingly as the distraught, aging Catherine and her chemistry with Liam Neeson was spot on and believable. While the son Max Thierot bothered me with the “fuck you mom!” whiny, rich kid lines, his “look” was ideal for being the son of Catherine and David. Oh and Amanda Seyfried, well she was the shining light beckoning me to see this flick. The most memorable scene occurred after Chloe showed up uninvited to Catherine’s job and is sent away harshly. The camera focuses in on her face as she stood facing the exit and she stands there shaking, allowing us to see the transition from needy into obsessed as the anger flushes across her pretty face. What an actress! Go see Chloe.
