So I hope you good folks have DVR because two great shows are now jutting for your attention on Tuesday nights. On TNT we have the Police drama SouthLAnd moving along really well. Premiering tonight we have the return of the newer and sexier V with Morena Baccarin and Morris Chestnut. This is going to be a bloody battle for attention – with the delay in getting episodes out to the websites for your viewing, it’s no doubt that most of you will pick one or the other. I urge you not to sleep on these shows, while SouthLAnd has been steady in its goodness, the slowly paced revealing of the cops back stories and personalities may turn away the less interested parties. On the other end of the spectrum, the warp speed pacing of the first 4 episodes of V was met with mixed feelings from it’s viewers. The older audience who watched the original series hated the pacing (except me) feeling it to be too much in a short time period. The younger audience loved how it jumped right into the thick of things and left you begging for more after each show ended.
Its definitely going to be an age and taste thing, if you are a younger, coffee drinking, time-pressed individual then you will more than likely gravitate towards the beautiful Ana (Morena Baccarin) and her shady Aliens in V. If you are more the fan of an old school, slowly paced, drawn out type of drama then continue to make SouthLAnd your choice for Tuesdays because I guarantee you it will not disappoint. What I worry about with these two shows is that one will dip in lieu of the other and it may affect the writing thus killing the pacing (*cough* Heroes). SouthLAnd has already been through an unfair cut in the past and I would hate to have that happen again to a really great show – hell Regina King would probably slap somebody if she was made to go through that mess again.
If you are a night owl, then you can have your cake and eat it too. SouthLAnd comes back on at 1 am so if you tune in to the Sci-Fi V at 10:00 pm then you can catch up with the cops in South LA at 1:00 am. Regardless of what you choose and how much you love them, keep it locked on the Spice because we will be watching every single episode and giving you our opinions every week. Tonight my choice between the two will be V, since it’s brand new and we were left with what looked like a fleet of 1,000 ships outside of Earth’s galaxy. Ana has a wicked smile and a pretty daughter and the final episode had her toying with a single human boy who happened to be the son of an FBI agent. It’s gonna be great, but SouthLAnd also has a kick-ass episode geared up for us. Stay tuned, tonight will be television heaven for yours truly.
